GR Firmware alternative license grant Copyright (C) 2026 BangBOOM and GR Tools contributors The authors grant the original code in the paths listed below under the GNU General Public License, version 2 only (GPL-2.0-only), as an alternative to the root AGPL-3.0-only grant: - apps/firmware/ - packages/firmware-core/ - packages/firmware-fit/ - packages/firmware-checks/ - packages/color-engine/ - packages/host/ - packages/style-contract/ - packages/ui/ - gr_firmware/ - stylepack/ - tools/ - re/tools/ - studio/color.py - studio/builtin_styles.py - studio/matrix_style.py - re/native_styles/ This alternative also covers original documentation and build/install scripts needed to modify, build, and install those components. A recipient may select the GPL-2.0-only grant for that original work. The GPL-2.0 text is supplied at public/licenses/Unicorn-GPL-2.0.txt. That text applies to this grant as well as to the separately licensed Unicorn executor. GR Firmware uses this alternative for its original components and conveys its combination with Unicorn under GPL-2.0-only. Matching corresponding source and required notices must accompany distribution under GPL-2.0. The grant permits recipients to modify and redistribute the covered work under GPL-2.0; it adds no field-of-use restriction. Original GR Studio application code in apps/studio/, public/studio/, and the remaining studio/ application uses AGPL-3.0-only. Studio selects the AGPL grant for shared original components. This alternative does not change the license of the Studio application or make the whole repository GPL-2.0-only. This grant covers only original work whose authors have the right to license it. It does not relicense imported dependencies, Ricoh firmware, recovered factory data, reference LUTs/recipes, generated firmware images, or user content. Those materials retain their separate rights and terms. Directory membership does not override an upstream notice or the data boundaries in public/LICENSING.md. It grants no permission to redistribute camera material. The software is provided without warranty, to the extent permitted by law. See public/LICENSING.md for distribution boundaries and pending release gates.
